Poe AI Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Poe AI operates the website at poeai.net and the companion chat service available through it. In this policy "Poe AI", "we" and "us" mean the operator of that service, and "you" means any adult who visits the site or holds an account.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers the Poe AI website, chat interface, billing flow and support channels. It does not cover third-party websites you reach through external links, which run under their own policies.

3. Adults only

Poe AI is restricted to people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, the account and its data are deleted without notice.

4. Account information we collect

When you register we collect an email address, a hashed password or a third-party sign-in identifier, your declared age confirmation and the date the account was created.

5. Chat content

Messages you exchange with a Poe AI companion are stored so conversations can continue across sessions. This includes text, voice note transcripts and image requests you make in the chat window.

6. Companion and memory data

Personality settings, appearance choices and the memory notes your companion builds from your conversations are stored against your account and are visible only to you.

7. Payment information

Card numbers never touch our servers. Payments are handled by external processors who return only a transaction reference, the plan purchased, the amount, the currency and the billing country.

8. Technical data

We record IP address, browser type, operating system, device category, language, referring page and timestamps for each session in order to run and secure the service.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

Poe AI uses strictly necessary cookies for sign-in and security, preference cookies to remember your settings, and aggregated analytics cookies. Non-essential cookies can be refused without losing access to the chat.

10. Analytics

Aggregated usage statistics tell us which pages load slowly and which features go unused. Analytics reports are read at the group level and are not used to build individual profiles.

11. Why we process your data

We process data to create and secure accounts, deliver conversations, maintain companion memory, take payment, prevent abuse, respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

12. Legal bases

Depending on your location, processing rests on performance of a contract, our legitimate interest in operating a safe service, your consent for optional cookies and messaging, and compliance with applicable law.

13. Automated content generation

Companion replies are produced automatically from your messages and stored memory. These replies are entertainment content and are never presented as advice from a qualified professional.

14. What we never do

Poe AI does not sell personal data, does not rent contact lists, does not publish conversations and does not share chat content with advertising networks.

15. Service providers

Limited data is shared with hosting providers, content delivery networks, payment processors, email delivery services and fraud prevention tools, each bound by contract to use it only for the service they supply.

16. International transfers

Data may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where that happens we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms and require an equivalent standard of protection.

17. Data retention

Account and chat data are retained while the account remains active. After deletion, backups containing residual copies are cycled out within 90 days. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.

18. Deleting individual conversations

Any conversation can be erased from inside the chat window. Deleted conversations are removed from active storage immediately and cannot be restored by support.

19. Closing your account

Closing an account removes companions, memory, chat history and profile details. Confirm you have downloaded anything you want to keep before you confirm closure.

20. Your rights

Subject to local law you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interest.

21. How to exercise your rights

Send a request from the email address registered to the account to privacy@poeai.net. We respond within 30 days and may ask a security question before releasing information.

22. Marketing messages

Promotional email is sent only with consent and every message includes an unsubscribe link. Service emails about billing, security or account status are sent regardless of marketing preference.

23. Security measures

We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage for chat content, hashed credentials, role-limited internal access, activity logging and periodic review of infrastructure permissions.

24. Your responsibilities

Use a unique password, keep your sign-in device locked and avoid sharing real financial details, identity documents or medical information inside a chat window.

25. Data breach handling

If a breach is likely to affect your rights, we notify the relevant authority and affected members without undue delay, describing what happened and what to do next.

26. Third-party links

Pages that link away from Poe AI are provided for convenience. Once you leave the site, the receiving operator's privacy practices apply.

27. Do Not Track

Browsers send Do Not Track signals in inconsistent formats and there is no accepted standard for honouring them, so Poe AI does not respond to them. Cookie preferences are the reliable control.

28. Changes to this policy

Updates are published on this page with a revised date at the top. Material changes are announced by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
